Climate change

Production of concrete, but also the mining and processing of aggregates places increasing demands on environmental protection, especially in the area of reducing emissions and dust. Finding the right balance is not easy, but we can only remain competitive in the long term. We strongly believe that the demand of the market will change over time, and the price will not be the only factor in how to compete on the market in the future.

We minimize the negative environmental impact of concrete production at all our operations according to the legislation in force and we are actively involved in developing technology to minimize this impact. The aim of concrete mixing plants is to operate waste-free management by means of recycling facilities, which allow the rest of concrete to be returned to production, reduce waste generation and consumption of mineral resources. For the production of concrete we use as many local raw materials as possible. The portfolio of manufactured concrete is technologically designed so that the final product has not only the technical standards and concern quality criteria, but also makes economic and ecological sense. Efforts are also made to use secondary raw materials from power engineering and mining (eg electric fly ash, dust from quarries, etc.), which will reduce the content of cement clinker and positively affect the properties of the resulting concrete.

The trend in the area of concrete technology and the production of concrete structures and components is to reduce the carbon footprint with respect to the life cycle of the building structure. There are many ways how to achieve this: from the use of low clinker cements to the use of secondary raw materials but also to optmize design of the structure and to improve the concrete's quality and the achievement of its longer service life. At the same time, we are active in finding suitable concrete applications as a more suitable option for existing conventional materials and technologies. The aim is inovations for sustainable development.
As an example we can use concrete that permits water to enter the soil and leaves it in the landscape, concrete resistant to aggressive environment that increase the durability of the building and limit the use of other barrier materials (such as coatings and insulation), high-strength concrete that reduce demands on the amount of concrete used, self-compacting concrete which improves the strength and durability of building structures, while reducing energy consumption and noise caused by vibrations of concrete during its laying, etc.

We are convinced that the effective sustainability of our business will provide us with added value that the market will soon or later recognize and we will become the preferred partner.
